Tutorial Program
VFX Animation, also known as creature animation is any type of CG animation that has been added post-production to a live action film or digital content. This could be a CG monster, robot, spaceship, boat, or even a lampost or rock that needs to fall down a certain way or is too dangerous to film live. It could be used for feature films, advertisements, VR experience content, TV or streaming series, and much more.

Week 1 - The 12 Principles of Animation and how to create and use reference videos
Week 2 - Maya 101 for animators (Learn about Maya interface and get user friendly tips for animators)
Week 3 - The Bouncing Ball (Learn how to animate a believable ball animation based on weight and why this is the most important animation you will ever learn, how to use the graph editor to your advantage, and learn about the details that set your animation apart from others)
Week 4 - Pendulum (Learn in depth about Overlapping Action in three different stages of animating a pendulum)
Month 2, 3
ANI 02, ANI 03 (The Basics of Body Mechanics)
This is a program for learning the fundamentals of body mechanics in 3D animation.
This program is suited for

If you want to relearn or polish basic body mechanics in 3D animation

Weekly Program Breakdown
Week 1 - Ball with Tail Basic (Learn about how to combine both the ball and pendulum animations into one, internal force, what it means to animate something that's alive, and how to animate a tail)
Week 2 - Ball with Tail Advanced ((Learn about how to take what you learned from the ball with tail basic assignment and add a bit of story to create your own unique animation)
Week 3 - Lower Body Walk Cycle (Learn about the body mechanics of walking with just the lower part of your body first, the key poses of walking and what they mean, working from various stages from blocking to polishing your animation, how to use the graph editor to your advantage, how to loop your walkcycle endlessly, and learning about the details that set your animation apart from others)
Week 4 - Side Step Basic Animation (Learn about the body mechanics of a side step , the key poses of a side step and what they mean in terms of weight shift and center of gravity, work through various stages, from blocking to polishing your animation, how to use the graph editor to your advantage, learning about the details that set your animation apart from others)
Week 5 - Mime 101(Learn about miming and why this is important for animators, mime analysis, and how to use mime in 3D animation)
Week 6 - Side Step Advanced Animation (Learn how to take what you've learned from the basic side step and Mime 101 and combine the two to create a short original side step animation with a story and personality)
Week 7 - Full Body Basic Walk Cycle (Learn about the body mechanics of walking with both the lower and upper parts of your body, the key poses of walking and what they mean, working from various stages from blocking to polishing your animation, how to use the graph editor to your advantage, how to walk in place like a turntable, learning about the details that set your animation apart from others)
Week 8 - Full Body Personality Walk Cycle (Learn about how to take what you learned from the full body basic walk cycle assignment and add personality to create your own unique animation)
Month 4, 5, 6
ANI 04, ANI 05, ANI 06 (Advanced Body Mechanics)
This is a program for learning advanced body mechanics in 3D animation. Starting with ANI 4, students will develop their own stories and styles according to the field they're preparing to work in.

If you need to learn more about staging/layout and how to sell your shot to the audience in terms of creating an advanced body mechanics portfolio that looks like you can start working at a studio right away

Week 1 - Staging &Layout (Learn about staging, composition, camera, how to tell a story through camera, how to polish layout/previz stage)
Week 2 - Jump 1 (Learn about the body mechanics of a jump while telling a story and adding personality, the key poses of jumping and what they mean, how to make convincing video reference for your animation, how to approach and finish your layout stage)
Week 3 - Jump 2 (Learn about working from various stages from blocking to reblocking your animation, how to change between IK/FK naturally in work flow, learning about the details that set your animation apart from others)
Week 4 - Jump 3 (Learn about working from various stages from spline to polishing your animation, how to use the graph editor to your advantage, how to receive and apply feedback, learning about the details that set your animation apart from others)
Week 5 - Weight & Lifting 1 (Learn about the body mechanics of weight animation while telling a story and adding personality, the key poses of weight exercise and what they mean, how to make convincing video references for your animation, how to approach and finish your layout stage)
Week 6 - Weight & Lifting 2 (Learn about working from various stages from blocking to reblocking your animation, how to change between various constraints naturally in work flow, learning about the details that set your animation apart from others)
Week 7 - Weight & Lifting 3 (Learn about working from various stages from spline to polishing your animation, how to use the graph editor to your advantage, how to receive and apply feedback, learning about the details that set your animation apart from others)
Week 8 - Weight & Lifting 4 (Learn about working from various stages from spline to polishing your animation, how to use the graph editor to your advantage, how to receive and apply feedback, learning about the details that set your animation apart from others)
Week 9 - Tempo & Flow 1 (Learn about the body mechanics of a dance or martial arts while telling a story and adding personality, the importance of applying tempo and flow to your animation and what that means, how to make convincing video references for your animation, how to approach and finish your layout stage)
Week 10 - Tempo & Flow 2 (Learn about working on the blocking stage of your animation, how to add tempo and flow naturally in work flow, how to receive and apply feedback, learning about the details that set your animation apart from others)
Week 11 - Tempo & Flow 3 (Learn about working on the reblocking stage of your animation, how to receive and apply feedback)
